Adding your business to Instagram, the fast-growing photo-sharing social media space with an 800 million active user base, is a MUST for every business owner. Instagram has a very promising engagement rate. Around 80% of Instagram users follow at least one business, and over 120 million Instagram users make meaningful interactions with businesses like visiting a website or contacting businesses. Given the opportunities, here’s how you can add your business to Instagram.
There are two ways to go about adding your business to Instagram:
In any case, you can add your business to Instagram using the following steps.
Install the Instagram app on your smartphone or tablet and sign-up. If you already have an Instagram account, log-in and go to your profile by tapping on the person” icon in the far right-hand corner at the bottom of the screen.
Tap on the three vertical dots that appear in the top right-hand -corner of your screen. Scroll down and tap on “Switch to My Business Profile” option.
[Note: It is a requisite to have a Facebook business page if you want to add your business to Instagram. In the process, you will be prompted to create a Facebook business Page in case you don’t have one already. Furthermore, you can manage your Instagram business profile from Facebook itself.]
Once you do so, you’ll be led to the following page that has a carousel introducing the Instagram for businesses feature. Once you’re done scrolling through it, tap on “Continue”.
You will be led to the following page asking you to “Create Your Facebook Page”. Fill in the details that include your Page title and business category. You’ll find ‘local businesses” in the options which should ideally be your main category. But you can choose whatever is most relevant to your business. After choosing your primary category, you’ll be asked to choose your subcategory. Once you’re done, tap on the blue arrow button on the top right-hand corner of the page.
In case, you already have a Facebook business Page, you’ll be prompted to add it.
In the next step, you’ll be prompted to add your business address, email address, and phone number. This information will appear as call-to-actions on your Instagram profile page. Once you’ve added your business information, tap on “Done”.
Once you’re done, you’ll be led to your profile. Click on “Edit Profile”.
Once you’ve created your profile, you’ll need to optimize it. Fill in the fields with the necessary business information, add your profile image, and tap on the blue tick mark on the top right-hand corner of the page.
And, less time obsessing about your local presence
