The Google Business Profile (formerly My Business) is a free service that lets companies share their contact information, location and reviews. It’s an effective tool that helps add legitimacy to your brand and make you easier to find in search results.
One of the most dynamic features of a Google Business Profile is the ability to add products to your profile. Adding products allows you to develop a more complete profile and give searchers context about your offerings.
Adding product listings also helps you display in respond to queries such as, “Who has X near me,” which became increasingly popular during the pandemic. It’s an effective way to provide customers with a quick glimpse of your inventory and product mix.
How to Add Products to Google Business Profile
Once you have a Google Business Profile, you use the Profile Editor to add products if you are a small- or medium-sized business (with the exception of a few verticals, according to Google). Dining businesses can add their products via the Popular Dishes or Menu functions.
For larger chains, retailers can add products to a business profile automatically using Local Inventory Ads.

Once your product listing is complete, you can add a Buy button to the listing with a link to the item on your website. Products usually become visible within 30 minutes of being completed.

Once your products are visible, customers searching on Google can find them in several ways.
The Products tab contains two types of carousels. One is labeled “From Products Posts” and the other is “Product Catalog.” The From Products Post carousel features products you’ve highlighted in product posts while the Product Catalog features the product categories you’ve added to your listing and may be listed in a different area of the search results page.
