What happens next?
Once your get your business listed on Google My Business, you’re going to start showing up on Google searches and on Google Maps. If you’re optimized for local SEO on these websites, more people are going to be able to discover you on local searches and they’ll come across your listing.
But what if they want to call you, once they see your business? Customers who want to enquire about something, but are not able to find your phone number online will likely move on and reach out to a competitor. This step-by-step guide will take you through how you can add a phone number to your Google My Business listing.
Head over to Google My Business and click on the blue ‘SIGN IN’ button on the top right corner of the page.
You’ll be on the Home tab of your Google My Business page by default. Click on the Info button to navigate to the Info tab.
Once you’re on the Info tab of your Google My Business profile, find the blue phone icon of the page. If you haven’t added a phone number to your Google My Business listing yet, then the icon will have “Add Phone” written next to it. If you already have an existing number that you’d like to change, you’ll find that number next to the phone icon.
Click on the grey pencil icon next to add/edit your business’ phone number.
A pop-up that looks like this image will show up. Add your phone number and click on the blue APPLY button.
Once you add your phone number to your business listing, you’ll see a red Pending sign appear near your phone number. Google takes up to 3 days to review the content before pushing it on to your live listing. More often than not, Google will update your listing within an hour or so. If it’s not been updated, worry not. Check back in a couple of days, and the phone number is bound to appear on your profile. Note that your business needs to be verified to appear on search engines.
