Shared vs Dedicated Agent environments
What is the difference between Shared and Dedicated Agent environments?
Shared and Dedicated describe how your Agent infrastructure is allocated. With Shared, your Agent runs on infrastructure used by a bounded number of Synup accounts while your account's data and access remain isolated. With Dedicated, the Agent infrastructure is assigned to your account. This does not itself change Agent features; your plan separately determines limits such as how many Agent chats can run at the same time across your account.
Key facts
- Shared and Dedicated describe where your Agent runs.
- Account data and access remain isolated in either environment.
- Environment type itself does not change Agent features.
- Parallel Agent chat capacity applies across the account, not separately to each user.
- Solo and Premium use Shared environments.
- Pro and Scale use Dedicated environments.
- Enterprise uses a Dedicated environment with customized capacity.
What is a Dedicated environment?
A Dedicated environment runs the Agent on infrastructure assigned to your account rather than sharing that Agent infrastructure with other Synup accounts.
Dedicated is included with Pro, Scale, and Enterprise. These plans are designed for accounts that need greater scale and include higher standard parallel-chat allowances. The environment and parallel-chat allowance are separate parts of each plan.
Does the environment change what my Agent can do?
No. Shared vs Dedicated changes where your Agent runs, not what the Agent can do. It does not by itself unlock or remove Agent Chat, Skills, Playbooks, integrations, memory, approvals, capabilities, or the Client Portal. Your plan can still include different usage limits and other entitlements.
How many Agent chats can run at the same time?
Your plan determines how many Agent chats can run at the same time across your account. The allowance is shared across the account; it is not separately allocated to each user, client, or location.
On Pro, for example, up to 5 Agent chats can run at the same time across the account. If several team members use the Agent at once, their active chats share that allowance. If all of your plan's parallel chat capacity is in use, wait for an active Agent conversation to finish before starting another.
This confirmed behavior concerns Agent chats. It should not be read as a limit for Skills, Playbooks, scheduled Playbooks, or every other kind of Agent work.
What if I manage more than 50 locations?
Talk to Synup about Enterprise. Enterprise includes Dedicated Agent infrastructure with capacity tailored to larger portfolios. This is plan guidance, not the point at which Dedicated begins: Pro and Scale already include Dedicated environments below 50 locations.
What happens if my plan changes?
If your active plan changes, your Agent environment and capacity follow the applicable plan. Any underlying infrastructure change can take place after the plan change, so do not treat it as an instant physical move.
When Agent access expires or a cancellation takes effect, Agent work is paused. If the account is reactivated, its environment and capacity follow the active plan.

Questions people ask
What does Shared mean?
Your Agent runs on infrastructure used by a bounded number of Synup accounts. Your account's data, credentials, connected services, and access remain isolated.
What does Dedicated mean?
Your Agent runs on infrastructure assigned to your account instead of sharing that Agent infrastructure with other Synup accounts.
Is Shared less secure than Dedicated?
Shared does not give another Synup account access to your workspace data, credentials, or connected services. Account data and access remain isolated in both environments.
Can another agency access my data in a Shared environment?
No. Sharing Agent infrastructure does not give another agency access to your account, data, credentials, or connected services.
Does Dedicated unlock different Agent features?
No. Environment type does not itself change Agent capabilities. Plans can still differ in usage limits and other entitlements.
Does Dedicated make the Agent faster?
Dedicated assigns Agent infrastructure to your account, and Dedicated plans include higher standard parallel-chat allowances. Synup does not document a blanket speed guarantee between Shared and Dedicated environments.
Is the parallel Agent chat limit per user?
No. It applies across the account. Team members using the Agent at the same time share the account's parallel-chat allowance.
Which plans include Dedicated Agent infrastructure?
Pro, Scale, and Enterprise. Solo and Premium use Shared Agent environments.
Can I switch environments without changing plans?
There is no separate self-service environment selector. Your environment follows your plan; customized Enterprise arrangements can be configured with Synup.
What if I manage more than 50 locations?
Talk to Synup about Enterprise. Enterprise includes Dedicated Agent infrastructure and customized capacity for larger portfolios.
