How to verify your business on Instagram to get a Blue Tick

As a brand, you need a verified tick (blue tick) for your business to be legit in market. Here is the step-by-step guide to verify your business on instagram to get a blue tick.

The blue checkmark next to your Instagram handle tells customers your account is the real one, which builds trust in what you offer. There are now two ways to get it: Meta Verified, a paid subscription that most businesses use, and the older free verification request, which still exists but approves very few accounts. Here is how each path works.

Get verified with Meta Verified (the usual path)

Meta Verified is a monthly subscription from Meta that gives your account a blue checkmark once it confirms your identity. For most businesses this is now the realistic way to get verified.

  • Step 1: Open your Instagram profile and tap the three lines in the top right corner.
  • Step 2: Tap Meta Verified (or open Settings and activity, then Meta Verified).
  • Step 3: Choose the account you want to verify and pick a subscription plan.
  • Step 4: Submit a government ID that matches the name on your profile, then complete payment.

Pricing varies by country, but Meta Verified generally starts around $14.99 per month on the web and $19.99 per month in the iOS and Android apps, with business plans starting a little higher. Your profile name and photo need to match your ID, and your account has to meet Meta’s basic requirements for activity and security. After you submit, Meta usually reviews the request within a few days, often 24 to 72 hours. The subscription also includes impersonation monitoring and access to human support, which help if someone copies your brand.

Request the free legacy verification

Instagram still offers the older, no-cost verification request for accounts it considers notable. Approval is not guaranteed and most businesses are pointed to Meta Verified instead, but it costs nothing to apply.

  • Step 1: Tap the three lines in the top right corner of your profile.
  • Step 2: Open Settings and activity, then Accounts Center.
  • Step 3: Find the Request verification option for your Instagram account.
  • Step 4: Fill out the form, attach any requested documents, and submit.

Make your account easier to verify

Whichever path you use, a complete and active account improves your odds and protects your brand:

  • Get descriptive in your profile. Make it simple for a first-time visitor to understand what your company offers.
  • Post to both your feed and Stories regularly. An active account looks legitimate and shows there is a real business behind it.
  • Encourage customers to tag and mention your business. When others feature you, it signals that your page is genuine, so reshare those posts and stories when you can.

Only two verification routes are legitimate: the in-app request form and the Meta Verified subscription. Anyone emailing or messaging you an offer to sell you a badge is running a scam, so never pay a third party for a checkmark.

Put these steps on autopilot

Synup verifies, syncs, and monitors every listing your locations own, so nobody has to work the checklist by hand.
